DECADE 1960

TROPICALIA

I wanted those works to represent urban and popular scenes of Rio de Janeiro. Employing vivid colours, I developed a work related to mass iconography, showing the poetry of popular culture, of the peripheries, in its most simple forms and tonalities. This period belongs to the tropicalist movement, which reached all the arts in Brazil.

CIRANDAS

In those first works, there were two contexts: one relating to childhood dreams and the other to forms of the evening, hybrids, between vegetal and humans, which are born when the silence of night begins.
